The two main difficulties with this type of procedure are the lack of sterility of the graft and the elaborate, costly storage conditions.

Bioteck receives the bone tissue from the Partner Bank and subjects it to a specifically designed enzyme treatment to eliminate cells, lipids and proteins from the bone, without altering the mechanical and biological properties of the bone matrix (type I bone collagen and bone apatite).
The thus-cleaned bone tissue can then be sterilised by radiation with accelerated electrons (beta rays), without the concern that toxic by-products could be formed (this is a risk if organic matter were still present).

The Partner Bank therefore receives, as a final product of the UBTT® service, the same bone collected by themselves, completed deantigenised, sterile and in a high quality final packaging (double medical blister pack).

The custom made block service

The Custom Made Block service targets Maxilla Facial and Dental Surgeons using modern three-dimensional viewing systems of the bone area of intervention, based on computerised axial tomography (CAT) data.

The Professional using the Custom Made Block service first prepares the stereo lithographic model of the bone volume on which the work is to be performed.

He therefore receives one or more parallelepiped bone blocks from Bioteck, of agreed dimensions, and proceeds to adapt these to the stereo lithographic model, giving them the desired form to allow for surgery in optimum conditions. 

The shaped blocks therefore return to Bioteck, where they are definitively cleaned of all contaminants, sterilised and packaged in double medical blister packs, before being sent back to the surgeon.

During the operation, the graft is performed by positioning the previously-shaped bone block, sterile from the blister pack, avoiding any modelling at the time of use, and thereby drastically reducing the difficulty and duration of surgery.
