Cortical bone membrane |

|
osteoplant® elite expresses a new concept of membrane for GTR and GBR, by combining the practicality of the reabsorbable membranes with the regeneration results of the permanent ones. Made of FLEX equine cortical bone, it results to be totally reabsorbable in the long term (between 8 and 12 months). |

ACTIVE PRINCIPLE |
| |
osteoplant® elite cortical bone membrane must be placed to cover and protect the bone cavity once this has been filled with bone grafting materials or tissue (it is not self-supporting). The membrane must cover the remaining bone tissue leaving a skirt of about 2 mm. After about 30 days, this skirt appears well osseointegrated with the patient's own bone tissue with an effect similar to bone fracture repair. At this stage the seal is perfected and results extremely efficient. Reabsorption, dissimilarly to collagen membrane, follows osteoclastic activity and occurs when the regeneration has been completed.

ADVANTAGES |
| |
- Compared to the other reabsorbable materials it has a longer reabsorption time (between 8 and 12 months), which ensures better results especially when large bone regeneration is required.
- Compared to other non-absorbable materials it does not need a further operation for removal.
- Compared to other non-absorbable materials it avoids tissue dehiscence. Consisting in cortical bone the graft offers a favourable base for the soft tissue to proliferate and adapt.
- Compared to other absorbable materials, reabsorption occurs through the osteoclastic activity, which only happens after total regeneration, and therefore said self-organising.
